A Big Day for Delaware!

New administration websites mark
the debut of Lighthouse!

Tuesday, January 21st was a big day for Delaware on a number of fronts, and the GIC was proud to play a big part in it all!

The day marked the inauguration of Delaware’s 76th governor, Matt Meyer and its 27th lieutenant governor, Kyle Evans Gay. It also marked the launch of Delaware’s first two Lighthouse websites, in the form of new homepages for the new administration. These websites represent Delaware’s first look at Delaware’s first design system!

We must also take a moment to acknowledge the contributions of the entire GIC team to this successful transition.

Ahead of the Inauguration, one of our fantastic artists designed a beautiful program for the ceremony:

And our amazing video team was called on to livestream the Inauguration itself, which went off without a hitch!

Fun fact: The week before the ceremony, the whole thing was relocated indoors to Delaware State University due to concerns about weather.

In addition to this being a logistics challenge with a hard deadline, it also represented a rare moment in state history; Gubernatorial inaugurations in Delaware have been held exclusively on the statehouse grounds outdoors since 1957.

The original plan for this time around was to have a large heated tent to address our freezing temperatures. But the forecast called for strong wind gusts, which is not ideal for a big tent with a couple hundred people under it.

So, safety prevailed over tradition, and the GIC rose to the occasion!

Our First Lighthouse Websites!

While the GIC Video Team was hard at work bringing the Inauguration into the homes of thousands of Delawareans, the GIC Development and Creative Teams were hard at work preparing for the launches of our first two Lighthouse websites: The official homepages for Governor Matt Meyer and Lieutenant Governor Kyle Evans Gay.
