Use this form to request a new domain under delaware.gov that doesn’t exist yet.
The approval for the name will be based on the following – Is the name:
- understandable to users?
- as short as possible?
- easy to spell/say/give out over the phone?
- using words and not acronyms?
- complying with federal and state policy?
GIC is the organization that approves names, and DTI is the organization that creates them with the Domain Name Service (DNS).
Currently, DTI supports names that are one-level under delaware.gov – so, xyz.delaware.gov is supported. If you have a request that is more than one-level under (for example agency.xyz.delaware.gov) then this will have cost and more maintenance implications for your agency.
