Video Producer

The Government Information Center is seeking a Video Producer to create and manage digital and multimedia content that helps promote Delaware programs, services, and quality of life to our residents, businesses, and visitors. This position will work across state government agencies to develop video concepts and service multimedia requests from marketing and communications departments. This position will work in a team based environment, and also working alongside agency clients. You will report to the Creative Director in the Government Information Center and projects and priorities will be coordinated by GIC’s Senior Video Producer.

Serve as technical liaison to Delaware state agencies in the areas of video production and future multi-media development. 

A Bachelor’s Degree and 5 to 8 years of experience is desired.

Successful candidate is someone who wants to experiment with new methods and styles of videography, beyond interviews and B-roll, including VR, hyperlapse, cinemagraphs, video essay, 360 videos, and aerial/drone video, among others. This candidate will be able to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Must also be able to work some evenings and weekends as projects dictate and meet daily deadlines. 

Job Requirements

  • Guide video production through ideation to production including working closely with stakeholders and collaborating with Creative Team with a focus on best forms of digital delivery
  • Collaborate to produce a wide range of video content, from social-first, asset-driven/motion graphic content to in-depth, talent-driven features
  • Plan video shoots including but not limited to location scouting, storyboarding and script writing
  • Collaborate with key internal clients and stakeholders to develop and refine video projects through content brainstorms and multiple edits
  • Work with writing staff to craft and edit video scripts that tell stories and engage the public
  • Create and develop multimedia content for multiple destinations including stories, external videos, marketing/social media, recruitment/training and other enterprise-wide projects through the use of audio, video, still photography, motion graphics, music, etc.
  • Help coordinate and produce live video opportunities and event coverage using Facebook Live, Livestream and YouTube
  • Work independently, as well as part of a team to establish project deliverables; comfortable talking to and interviewing strangers.
  • Maintain physical and digital assets
  • Track and interpret video analytics and keep an eye toward trends in the digital storytelling landscape
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize against goals
  • Select and hire additional crew and talent when necessary; direct and coach talent; and ensure all location power needs are met


  • Video editing with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, or similar software
  • Script writing with Final Draft 11 or similar software
  • Using team collaboration platforms like Wrike, Trello, or similar platforms
  • Working with a CMS and best practices for HTML5 video
  • Creating content for clients, or in-house
  • Developing accessible video content (closed captioning, captioning for online/social)
  • Familiarity with digital cinema cameras and DSLR video cameras

Preferred Skills

  • Motion graphics creation in After Effects/Motion
  • DSLR photography
  • Still image processing/editing in Photoshop/Lightroom
