Video Projects
The Government Information Center (GIC) is taking requests from State Agencies via their Public Information Officers (PIOs) to create high quality videos.
At the GIC, our mission is to connect citizens to their government, so we are excited to grow our capabilities with video production. Video is a fast growing segment for consuming information. Another goal is to help reduce friction between government and citizens, and to help agencies communicate more effectively with the public.
We are only accepting briefs and requests from PIOs, so please reach out to your agency PIO to find out more details. If you are a PIO, and need more information, please contact us to learn about our request process. Remember, projects must have an intended audience of the public (not just internal-facing), and we ask for sufficient lead time to create a great product.
Below are a few project highlights.
Video Projects
Kindness Week
What is Kindness? – Hear what students from Caesar Rodney Elementary had to say about what kindness means to them. The GIC worked with the Department of Education and Ceasar Rodney School District for this light-hearted approach to a yearly event.
Animated Video
Delly Explains: Brown V. Board of Education – The GIC worked with the Department of State to make Delly come to life in this animated video aimed for school-age children, explaining Delaware’s role in the groundbreaking Supreme Court case of Brown V. Board of Education.
Kids Discuss Brown V. Board of Education
On the 70th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Brown V. Board of Education case, Delaware kids discussed what it means to them. The GIC worked with state agencies and school partners, and of course the kids themselves, to make this video possible.
Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame
Office of Women’s Advancement – DHR has partnered with GIC for multiple years to live stream their annual award ceremony recognizing notable women in Delaware.
Indigenous People’s Day 2019
The GIC’s mission is to connect citizens to their government. One aspect of that is helping to educate citizens on Delaware’s history and the many people that make up the First State. We sat down with Bonnie Hall, of the Nanticoke Indian Tribe, to learn more about the Nanticoke Nation for Indigenous People’s Day.
Delaware State of the State Address 2021
The GIC added livestream services to our video offerings beginning in 2020. In January 2021, we livestreamed Governor Carney’s State of the State Address to YouTube, Facebook and local media.
COVID-19 Press Briefings
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor’s office hosted a weekly press briefing to update the public and media on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in Delaware. The GIC Team livestreamed those press briefings, held both in person and virtually, to Facebook and YouTube.
