New Lighthouse Release! (v1.3)
Posted on October 1, 2026

Our developers have just announced another update to our continuously evolving, open-source design system!
Here are some of the features you’ll find in the new release of Lighthouse v1.3!
State-Level Notification Icon Accessibility

The icons in the state-level notification bar were being flagged for accessibility violations for having non-specific file names. Our developers hid those names, and because the icons are a decorative element this change now meets accessibility standards.
Dynamic Footer Column Width

The footer in Lighthouse contains three columns that are designed to be responsive, and which should collapse evenly when their window is shrunk. However, there were some inconsistencies in the default spacing, and the “Quick Links” column was hogging up extra space and taking it directly from “How can we help?”
These siblings have now been taught to play nicely and share equally.
Services Tile Margins

Spacing has been tightened up in the Services tiles, which now have a customizable “margin bottom” sizing feature.
Combo Box Padding

This was an issue that was only affecting Lighthouse sites when visited through the Chrome browser. In Chrome, the Combo Box menu was too flush with the drop-down edge. Proper padding has been added.

The “Skip to main content” button has been shifted so that it is no longer overlapping the header bar.
CTA Visited Link Accessibility

A visited link state indicates to a user that they have previously selected or visited a given link on a page. This was initially indicated in Lighthouse as white text over a light blue background, but this proved to pose some visibility concerns within the Lighthouse palette. Links have been fixed to darken the text color.
