Lighthouse Design System
Our in-house design and development teams launched Lighthouse to help agencies maintain visual consistency, adhere to accessibility guidelines, reduce development time, and simplify governance across multiple web properties.
Lighthouse is an evolution of Delaware’s Common Look & Feel Guidelines. The design system is still in it’s early stages, but encompasses everything from state branding, style guides, and reusable component and template libraries – pre-built with clean interfaces and intuitive functionality that make information easy to find and services easy to access.
Lighthouse in WordPress
As a GIC-managed site, Lighthouse can be implemented and edited through the WordPress CMS. If you are looking to upgrade to Lighthouse with the GIC, you can learn more about it on our Lighthouse page and sign up to learn how you can get the design and development process started.
Storybook – Open Source Design Library and Documentation
If using a third-party developer, please check out Lighthouse in Storybook to access the open-source HTML code for the design system library as well as documentation for implementation.
Questions or Feedback?
Municipality Website Services
The GIC designs and develops responsive websites in WordPress, a content management system (CMS) for local governments throughout the state of Delaware. Websites developed by GIC for towns and municipalities are easy to manage, budget-friendly, and dynamic.
Does your municipality need a website?
Currently, our dev team is restarting web projects with municipalities, prioritizing towns that have no or little web presence, and then working our way to those with an established presence. For questions or more information, please place a Website Maintenance Request and a member of the GIC team will reach out to you!
Non-Government Advertisements
A Gov Internet domain may not be used to advertise for private individuals, firms, or corporations, or imply in any manner that the government endorses or favors any specific commercial product, commodity, or service.
Please note: This is not the same as promoting a town-wide yard sale, parade, etc. Those things are allowed.
Federal Rules for listing of businesses can be found at www.dotgov.gov
No Political or Campaign Information
The Gov Internet domain is for the operation of government, not the political, political party, or campaign environment. No campaigning can be done using .gov domains. The Gov Internet domain websites may not be directly linked to or refer to websites created or operated by a campaign or any campaign entity or committee. No political sites or party names or acronyms can be used. Separate wesbites and e-mail on other top-level domains (TLDs), such as .org, will have to be used for political activity.

Delaware.gov State Portal
The GIC maintains and updates the Delaware.gov State Portal.
The Portal is a centralized hub for comprehensive access to state and local government information. The site highlights important safety, closings, and consumer alerts, along with quick links to the state’s most utilized online services.
Do you want to highlight your agency’s information on the State Portal?
There are opportunities to share information about events, news, features, or alerts specific to individual agencies in the Portal’s Featured highlights section. For consideration, please fill out a maintenance request form with details about your information.
State Agency News Platform
The Government Information Center (GIC) provides a central place to post news releases. The News Server (news.delaware.gov) is a content-management system based on the WordPress platform that takes submissions from agencies across the state and integrates the information into a feed that is available for agency website ‘newsroom’ pages.
