CITIZEN OUTREACH
Overview
During research that supports its mandate of easing and improving citizen access while educating the citizen about availability of information and services, the GIC reaches out to the citizen and citizen organizations to:
- Determine information and content the citizen is seeking from Delaware government and specifically from Delaware.gov.
- Educate the citizen about what Delaware government offers--and specifically what is offered by Delaware.gov.
Citizen Contact Points
The GIC interacts with the citizen and citizen organizations in several ways:
- Charged with managing incoming E-mail from Delaware.gov's Contact Form, the GIC responds to (or routes) all incoming citizen E-mail sent via the Contact Form. Responding to E-mails originating from Delaware.gov provides the GIC with a direct opportunity assist the citizen. Incoming E-mail also helps the GIC to get a day-by-day snapshot of what citizens visiting Delaware.gov are seeking--and if they're finding what they're seeking.
- The GIC regularly attends public and State events with the Delaware.gov booth to educate people about the diverse collection of on-line services and information available at Delaware.gov.
- On a case-by-case basis, the GIC attends citizen organization events to provide a briefing on what information and services Delaware.gov offers.
- The GIC regularly polls citizens (in focus groups) to gather feedback about Delaware.gov. It is the GIC's mission to understand what the citizen needs (and wants)--and to conduct usability tests side-by-side with citizen feedback. Also, the GIC also runs an ongoing Survey to let the public assess the quality of its service.

Delaware.gov
Because the GIC is charged with maintaining, updating, and enhancing the Delaware.gov portal, the GIC is on the "front line" of presenting State Government information to the citizen and citizen organizations. The act of organizing and presenting information on Delaware.gov is, in itself, a form of citizen outreach. See more about Delaware.gov.
