Gov. Minner Announces Improved State Web Portal

Delaware.gov Website Gets a Facelift

Dover - Governor Ruth Ann Minner announced that the State's web portal -- Delaware.gov -- has undergone a facelift to further improve citizen, visitor and business access to important online services and government information.

This is the first significant redesign of the State's web portal since April 2001 when Governor Minner first unveiled the website. "More than 60,000 visitors use Delaware.gov every month. We have analyzed how people use the portal and created a more attractive website that provides efficient "one-click" access to the most sought after information and services provided by State government," said Governor Minner.

The portal's facelift adds a variety of attractive icons and scenic views highlighting Delaware's seasonal beauty. The redesign provides "one-click" access to a much wider range of State, local and federal government information and services including:

  • Most popular websites and frequently used online services
  • Hot topics and news
  • State agency, legislative, arts, recreational and tourism calendars
  • Lottery and E-ZPass Information
  • Weather, Traffic and Travel Information, and
  • Kid's Page

Gov. Minner has made the movement of state government onto the Internet a cornerstone of her administration. "I have asked State employees to constantly look for ways to utilize e-government to improve service, reduce lines and remove bureaucratic barriers. This new format allows us to better direct customers to the information and services they consistently request such as Division of Motor Vehicles and Delaware incorporation information. The new format also provides ample space to promote Delaware tourism, seasonal events and new online services," said Governor Minner.

The new design of the portal builds upon the State's "Common Look and Feel" (CLF) initiative. The CLF initiative improves the usability of State websites and lowers the cost of developing new web pages by using common formatting. For example, agencies participating in the initiative have agreed to use a common navigation bar on every webpage that provides "one-click" access to the websites of all three branches of State government. By promoting consistency in the look of State websites, citizens spend less time learning to navigate individual agency websites. To date, participating agencies in the CLF initiative include the Offices of the Governor, the State Treasurer, the Budget Office and the Departments of Education, Labor, State, and Technology and Information.

The state's web portal can be found at www.delaware.gov. Information content on the portal is maintained by the Delaware Government Information Center, an office within the Delaware Department of State.
