PROGRAMS
The GIC is charged with obtaining valuable input from the citizens of Delaware about what government information and services they access most. Then, based on citizen input, the GIC works to determine the most efficient way of using technology to make that information available to citizens online.
To help meet its mission, the GIC works with:
- All three branches of State Government, industry partners, citizen groups, and citizens to explore ways in which the State can break down the "digital divide" by building e-Partnerships between the State and the counties, major municipalities, public libraries, and major educational institutions in order to meet customer expectations, lower costs, leverage best practices and ensure that citizens have equal access to information.
- All three branches of State Government about the "common look and feel" environment, which permits users to navigate through Delaware's Websites more efficiently--easing citizen access to government information.
- Internal staff and appropriate State Agencies to develop, implement, and maintain a clear marketing campaign for the over 30 online State services that now exist and those expected in the future.
- State Agencies to research, advise, develop, and implement State Agency Web publishing standards and best publishing practices. (See more.)
- Department of Technology and Information (DTI) to determine and utilize core information technology elements needed by the State to maximize and leverage its investment in technology. These core elements include:
- Statewide e-payment solution
- Standard search engine
- An up-to-date online version of the Delaware Code
- Searchable State Agency phone directory
- And others
